Woodland Terrace
Since its inception in 2006, the Woodland Terrace Youth Intervention Program has consistently met needs for families in Woodland Terrace. This initiative is focused on young people 8-27 years of age; however, positive relations useful for program reinforcement are created with the extended family as well.
The following strategy is used for this prevention/intervention initiative:
Identify youth and access assets for positive development.
Develop assets via community strengthening activities, including: youth mentoring, “rapp” sessions, youth leadership opportunities, learning competitions, computer lab instruction, employment, and field trips.
Sustain programming by creating collaborations and partnerships: including Woodland Tigers, Woodland Resident Council, Multi-Media Training Institute, Training Grounds, D.C. Roving Leaders, MPD, DCHA, DCPS, and the Washington Wizards.
